Intaglio Apps
Independent software lab

Ideas turned intoworking systems.

Intaglio Apps is a home for experimental software: operating-system research, VR worlds, browser-native 3D, game technology and unconventional computing ideas taken far enough to measure, test and actually use.

Different problems, same approach: build a real prototype, push it hard, measure what happens and keep the parts that survive contact with reality.

LineOS

An experimental operating-system architecture exploring very low-overhead task selection, hierarchical scheduling structures and hardware-aware execution. The work is being tested against conventional approaches at increasingly large scales rather than treated as a purely theoretical design.

OS Royale VR

A standalone OpenXR VR client built around a live RuneScape-style game world. Current work spans region streaming, baked world geometry, interaction, combat, character animation, controller mapping and getting a large persistent world to run comfortably on headset hardware.

Edinburgh WebXR

A browser-delivered VR environment built with Three.js and WebXR, using Edinburgh as the test bed for terrain, multiplayer, combat, ranged weapons, pickups and increasingly ambitious world-loading experiments — all without a traditional native install.

I Ching Compute

A family of Boolean and bitplane experiments inspired by the relational structure of the I Ching. The aim is practical rather than mystical: reduce operations, preserve useful structure and benchmark whether unusual representations can produce genuine CPU, GPU or systems-level advantages.

About Intaglio Apps

Small studio.
Big experiments.

Intaglio Apps is the umbrella for a growing collection of software and research projects that sit somewhere between engineering, games and experimentation.

The common thread is simple: take an interesting idea beyond the sketchbook. Build it, benchmark it, break it, and find out whether there is something genuinely useful underneath.
